HMAS Childers (ACPB 93) is an Armidale-class patrol boat commissioned by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in 2007. Named after two Australian towns — Childers in Queensland and Childers in Victoria, this vessel was designed for border protection, anti-smuggling, and maritime security operations. As part of Australia’s naval defense, it replaced the Fremantle-class patrol boats, offering greater speed, endurance, and advanced surveillance capabilities. Over the years, HMAS Childers has played a vital role in protecting Australia’s waters and supporting regional security missions.

Our handcrafted HMAS Childers model is a stunning tribute to this iconic patrol boat, designed for collectors, veterans, and naval history enthusiasts. Carefully crafted with premium materials, the model captures intricate details of the real vessel, from its sleek structure to its deck features. Whether displayed in a home, office, or maritime collection, this museum-quality replica is a perfect way to honor Australia’s naval legacy.

The model’s nameplate and plaque number can be customised to represent any Armidale-class patrol boat. If you don’t see a specific vessel listed on our website, simply place an order for one of our Armidale-class patrol boats and include a note with the name of the boat you’d like it changed to. The History of HMAS Childers (ACPB 93)

HMAS Childers (ACPB 93) is an Armidale-class patrol boat of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), commissioned on 7 July 2007. Named after two Australian towns — Childers in Queensland and Childers in Victoria, the vessel was built by Austal Ships in Western Australia as part of the RAN’s effort to modernize its patrol fleet. Replacing the older Fremantle-class patrol boats, the Armidale-class introduced superior speed, endurance, and advanced surveillance capabilities, making them essential for Australia’s maritime security operations.

Designed primarily for border protection, fisheries patrol, counter-terrorism, and anti-smuggling missions, HMAS Childers operates extensively in Australian waters and the broader Indo-Pacific region. With a robust aluminium hull, a length of 56.8 meters, and a top speed of 25 knots (46 km/h), the ship is well-suited for high-speed patrol duties. Its state-of-the-art communication and radar systems allow it to operate effectively in coordination with Australian and allied forces.

Over the years, HMAS Childers has played a key role in Operation Resolute, Australia’s mission to safeguard its maritime borders. The patrol boat has also participated in multinational security exercises, enhancing regional stability and strengthening Australia’s naval partnerships. As part of a class designed to operate for up to 21 days at sea, HMAS Childers continues to be an essential asset in protecting Australian waters and national interests.
