HMAS Perth (I) 90cm – Camouflage Paint Scheme (Please enquire)

SKU: WS429026B-1 Category:

HMAS Perth (I) was a Modified Leander-class light cruiser of the Royal Australian Navy and one of Australia’s most respected warships of the Second World War. Originally built for the Royal Navy as HMS Amphion, she was transferred to the RAN and commissioned as HMAS Perth in 1939. Strong, fast, and heavily armed for her class, Perth quickly became an important part of Australia’s wartime naval service.

Her most famous and final action came in February 1942 during the Battle of Sunda Strait. Together with the American cruiser USS Houston, HMAS Perth engaged overwhelming Japanese forces while attempting to escape through the strait after the Battle of the Java Sea. Outnumbered and outgunned, Perth fought bravely until she was sunk in the early hours of 1 March 1942. The loss of the ship and many of her crew became one of the defining sacrifices in Australian naval history, and HMAS Perth (I) remains remembered with deep respect and honour.

This handcrafted model of HMAS Perth (I) is a tribute to that historic warship and the men who served aboard her. Beautifully detailed, the model captures the cruiser’s elegant wartime profile, deck layout, gun turrets, superstructure, and fine fittings. Mounted on a polished wooden base with a name plaque, it makes a meaningful display piece for collectors, veterans, naval historians, and anyone with a connection to Australia’s proud maritime heritage.
